Who We Are

Your Guide to Relationship Transformation

Imago Texas is the regional hub connecting people across Texas with certified Imago Relationship Therapists and transformative relationship workshops.

We don’t provide therapy or counseling services directly. Instead, we serve as your trusted guide, helping you find qualified independent professionals, evidence-based workshops, and educational resources that support your unique relationship needs.
Whether you’re seeking couples therapy in Austin, marriage counseling in Houston, parenting support in Dallas, or individual growth work in San Antonio or anywhere else across our vast state, we connect you with the right certified Imago professionals and programs.

Think of us as your relationship resource matchmaker: We help you find exactly what you need, when you need it.

Our Mission

Why We Exist

To make transformative relationship support accessible across Texas.

We believe healthy relationships are essential to wellbeing, relationship skills can be learned, and quality, evidence-based care matters. Support should be accessible at every stage from dating to decades-long marriage and prevention is more powerful than crisis repair.

Our mission is to connect Texans with the life-changing support of Imago Relationship Therapy.

What Makes Imago Texas Different

The Imago Approach: What We Stand Behind

Evidence-Based Transformation

Developed over 30 years ago by Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt, Imago Relationship Therapy has helped 2+ million couples worldwide and is supported by decades of clinical research.

Core Principles

01

Relationships as Growth

Conflict isn’t random; it’s an opportunity to heal and grow.

02

The Unconscious Partnership

We’re drawn to partners who reflect unresolved wounds and create the chance for healing.

03

The Imago Dialogue

A structured process (Mirroring, Validation, Empathy) that builds safety and understanding.

04

Connection Before Correction

Lasting change happens through safety, not criticism.

05

Mutual Healing

Both partners bring wounds; both share responsibility for growth.

06

Conscious Partnership

The goal is an intentional relationship that supports each person’s healing and development.

Frequently Asked Questions about Imago Texas

Common Questions

No. We are a coordinating organization and resource hub not a therapy practice. We connect people with independent certified Imago therapists and coordinate educational workshops, but we don't provide therapy or counseling services directly.

Think of us as the connection point between you and the professionals who can help you.

We don't bill insurance because we don't provide direct services. However, many therapists in our network do accept insurance. You'll need to verify coverage directly with individual therapists.

Workshop fees are generally not covered by insurance, though some employers offer professional development or wellness funds that may apply.

We require:

  • Current Imago Relationship Therapy certification through approved training programs
  • Active professional license in good standing (for therapists)
  • Adherence to professional ethical standards
  • Commitment to ongoing education and consultation
  • Agreement to our network standards and practices

No. We don't receive any payment from therapists or workshop presenters when you work with them. Our role is purely educational and connective helping you find the right professional for your needs.

Therapists and workshop presenters pay annual membership fees to be listed in our directory and participate in our network, but these fees aren't connected to individual client referrals.

We provide comprehensive directory information to help you make an informed choice, but we don't make specific recommendations or assignments. You choose the professional who seems like the best fit based on location, specialization, availability, and other factors important to you.

Many people find it helpful to consult with 2-3 therapists briefly before deciding, and we encourage this approach.

We take quality and ethics seriously. If you have concerns about a professional's conduct, competence, or ethical behavior:

  1. Address concerns directly with the professional first when appropriate
  2. Contact us with your concerns
  3. File a complaint with their professional licensing board if warranted
  4. Contact Imago Relationships International if it relates to certification standards

We investigate concerns and take appropriate action, which may include removal from our network.

Several ways to help:

  • Use and recommend our services to others who could benefit
  • Share your success story to inspire others
  • Volunteer for community events or outreach initiatives
  • Donate to support accessibility initiatives and community programs
  • Host an information session in your community or workplace
  • Spread awareness about Imago and relationship health

→ Contact us about getting involved

No. While Imago originated in couples therapy and remains best known for that application, the principles and tools apply to all relationships:

  • Parent-child relationships
  • Family dynamics
  • Friendships
  • Workplace relationships
  • Any human connection

Our network includes professionals specializing in all these areas.

We encourage exploration:

  • Read Getting the Love You Want by Dr. Harville Hendrix
  • Attend a free information session or community event
  • Schedule a brief consultation with a therapist to ask questions
  • Explore our website resources and articles
  • Contact us with specific questions about your situation

There's no pressure to commit before you're ready or certain it's a good fit.
